Tenant Checklist


  1. Are you currently renting?  If yes, did you sign a lease?  When does the term end?

  2. Who will be on the lease?

  3. Have you done a credit check for signers?

  4. Can you access funds quickly to cover first and last month's rent?

  5. If credit or income statements are an issue would you consider pre-payment of additional month rent? 

  6. Do you need easy access to:

  • Public transportation

  • Schools

  • Shopping

  1. If renting a condominium:

  • Would a “no pets allowed” restriction be a problem?

  • Is designated parking required?  

  • Is an exterior locker a necessity? 

  1. Would any of the following psychological stigmas affect your decision to rent?:

  • Past criminal activity (e.g. marijuana grow operation)

  • Natural death in the house

  • Suicide or murder committed in or on the property

  • “Paranormal” activity

  • Any particular neighbourhood conditions (e.g., group home, day care centre, etc.)

  1. Would you like help preparing to purchase in the future?

  2. Are there any other “Haves” or “Have Nots” that would affect your decision to Rent?
